Bad Beaches Only

Hilton Head, SC

Another vacation after 23 plus years of friendship and each time is a new and greater adventure. We couldn't have chosen a better group of sisters. There are no others that could ever take their place and I can't imagine my life without them. A blessing was established when we met so many years ago and I truly believe that we will never escape each other. Our latest took us south to Hilton Head. With the pandemic still amongst us, we opted to skip the plane rides and stay within driving distance. Kiawah was such a good time in 2020 and we didn't want to do an exact repeat from the previous year so we decided on HH. Turns out it was actually the 11th anniversary of our last trip to this location so it was all the more special.

We secured an AirBnb in SandCastles. The place was phenom! Gated community, spacious, pool, hot tub + outside shower, immaculately decorated, elevator equipped (Heading up 4 floors with my suitcase & this was the best amenity for me) and most importantly clean. We loved this spot and if you want to stay here, I highly recommend this property. If you want to live the week like us, find your luxury rental and book from here.

We had most days planned out but the weather was NOT cooperating this week but the rain did not dim our sunshine. We managed to venture out twice and supplemented the bad weather times with brunch and dinner inside but then tied it all together with pool & movie time. It was most well spent days I've had in a long time. If I could do it all over again, there is not one thing I would change. Not one.

Our dinner venture was interrupted due to a mishap on the restaurant choice but since we only hold food grudges if the back up plan fails and in this case, the backup was better than the first choice. Landed at Skull Creek Boathouse and when I say YUM! We were blown away and everyone loved their food. We loaded up on Oysters Roc, Calabash Shrimp, and a few others. For my entree, I had the boil and added crab legs. It was so good and honestly, a lot of food to eat in one sitting. We all opted for to go bags.

Since the rain kept us in, we binged on movies, good food, and well....

Everything else in between is a little blurry - but we managed to snag a brunch on the way out since the weather decided to clear up oh so suddenly.

Stacks Pancakes was already on the itinerary so we decided to give it a try. A bit crowded but worth every penny. I had a Sunrise Mimosa (ok 2) and the fried catfish, grits, fried green tomatoes, and collard greens. No regrets.

Looking for a seriously cute getaway with your girls, Hilton Head is definitely worth it even without the beach!
