Boston Foodie & Fun - Part 1

Boston, Massachusetts:

Our first stop for food was a few blocks from our hotel. Even though it was cold AF in the city and there was an obvious recent snow showering, we still decided to walk. Exploring Newbury Street on the way, we did not start off with a plan - very unlike me but in true fashion, on the way, I am the one tasked with 'Where are we going to eat? Whipped out the mobile and came across a few spots but this one really stood out and it was steps away.

Atlantic Fish Company is a must try when in Boston. The food was great. For lunch, I had the crab cakes and they were super fresh! I honestly wanted to do two rounds here because I wanted to try their seafood tower. I always get uneasy on whether they will be filling or not but when the couple at the end of the bar ordered one, I was instantly jealous and knew I should have given it a try. Next time, that is the first thing I am going for. My bar neighbor got a lobster roll and it was so tempting to look at (we will get into my roll experience later) but I opted to stay the course for a lighter lunch. It worked out in the end.

Fast forward to Saturday's lunch and cocktail hour after shopping, we ended up at Boston Sail Loft. We walked up to Copley Place and caught a ride there. It was on the water and was a quaint little place. The food was good and I was still full from my lunch CB at the hotel so I can't rave completely about it because in all honesty, I wasn't very hungry but still ordered anyway. Here is where I tried my first Boston Lobster Roll. Soooo yeah about these - not really sure what the hype is but I could have done without a $40 sandwich. I think for me the turn off was the fact that the lobster was chilled.

Why on earth didn't I think about that before beats me. I assumed that it would be warm. The lobster was fresh and good but I think for me the temperature was a turn off. At least the fries were excellent. This is not a knock on the restaurant as I truly think my experience was a miss because I didn't think about whether or not I would enjoy a cold lobster sandwich. Honey had the Fried Half and Half Plate. It was prepared well (of course I had to taste) and really was a lot of food for one person but we managed to get rid of it.

We were close to catching the Celtics game but after so much food, I was either ready to lay down or partake in some cocktails. Which do you think won? 😆

We landed at Citrus and Salt. As soon as I saw it earlier, I knew I wanted to visit. The pink illuminating lights from the inside was just an instant attraction. The cuisine is Mexican but we didn't have any food. I had the 'I DIDN'T TEXT YOU TEQUILA DID' (TWICE LOL) and honey had a Agua Frescas. We both loved our treats. I highly recognize reserving a head of time. Every night this place was packed and by chance, we snagged two seats at the bar but it was worth the squeeze. Luckily, it was across the street from our hotel so the trek back to the room was short lived.

Signing off here as this one is getting pretty long - so take a peak at our next post - Boston Foodie & Fun - Part 2 for the other half of our food + fun times in the city.
