Chicago Winter Vacation (CWV) - The Food

Chicago, Illinois:

Our first stop as a tradition when we arrive is to head over to Shaw's. We normally arrive in the afternoon but with such an early flight, we arrived, and it was still breakfast time. Not to skip any meals because that is sooo unlike us, we opted to grab something light from the hotel's bar. A short stack of pancakes topped with berries + bacon. These were literally the best pancakes we ever had. So much so that the very next day we returned for another round.

After some rest for the day, we finally made it over to Shaw's. We always stay on the river so it's really just a short trek to walk. This go around, I added something different to the mix, but we always get the same thing at Shaw's for dinner. I get the Shaw's Seafood Platter and Thomas gets the French-Fried Shrimp. This time without missing out on my regular, I added a cold appetizer combination - 2 oysters on the half shell, 2 jumbo shrimp cocktail, and 1 half main lobster tail. It was just the right mix for an appetizer before dinner.

After dinner drinks were courtesy of Walgreens! LOL!! We normally make a stop to stock the room with extra water, wine for me, and other choice items to last a few days.

The next morning we went back to the hotel lobby for breakfast and had those delicious pancakes again. The evening we dined at Andy's Jazz Club but I didn't capture pictures of the food and more details on our experience will be in the blog post - CWV - The Fun. We really love this place and unfortunately, this time around, the food was just 'ok' so I am opting not to cover in lots of detail. We will always come back to visit so we will see what happens the next time with food.

A quick morning coffee run to S-bucks and then for lunch we did a repeat at Benihana's. We stopped at our favorite donut shop only to find out that they sold out of donuts at both locations! Honestly, they have the best donuts ever so I can definitely see why. Much of the day was spent shopping on Michigan Avenue so we fast forward to Sunday morning where we finally made it to Stan's. We went to their second location which was right behind our hotel, and we didn't even know it. Go figure.

A little more shopping and then we head to Navy Pier. We had so many places to try and there are so many we love, we decided to opt for a new location for dinner. I selected RPM Seafood. There are a few that are linked together - RPM Steak, RPM Seafood and RPM Italian. This place was a treat. The decor and ambiance were beautiful, and it was right off the river.

The service was phenomenal!! Our server was so attentive and made suggestions where asked. The food was top tier. I honestly can't wait to go back.

For dinner - Ceasar + RPM Chopped Salads, Fish and Chips, + RPM Steak Frites. Everything was exceptional and this was the perfect place to wrap our last evening in the city.

Check out their full menu here---> RPM Seafood Chicago.
