Chicago Winter Vacation (CWV) - The Fun

Chicago, Illinois:

We have covered travel and food so now we are on to the fun! Chicago isn't short on things to do and we normally do repeats because, well that's just what we do. Our first 'fun' repeat was heading to Andy's Jazz Club. We really love this place. It's walking distance to hotel and right next to Shaw's. We ate dinner here but this time the music was the hit vs the food.

The cover charge is $15 pp and you reserve seating ahead of time. When you arrive, you check in with your reservation, pay and you are seated based on your selection.

Another favorite on this trip was hanging out at the hotel's bar. It was small and quaint but had a nice selection. We had a few nice cocktails, and this super cute flight of beer named the Chicago Flight.

All were from breweries in Chicago and to be honest, they all were pretty good.

Post Andys, Thomas found the cutest Tiki Bar ever - Three Dots and a Dash!! We stood in line for all of about 5 minutes and headed in. It was definitely packed but was certainly a crowd pleaser. The cocktails here were prepped sooooo cute! Definitely needs a do over!

Let's face it, I am a shopper and even worse so is Thomas. He is actually more of a shopper than me. He just has great style and top fashion sense. I shopped a lot in my younger days and while I still do some, it's not like it was. In Chicago, we have another fave which is shopping on Michigan Ave. There is no shortage of shops and department stores. We spend hours walking what is known as the Magnificent Mile. This time, I shopped more than before but it was worth it. I was talked into buying a new handbag. Yes - I needed (this is relative) one. I actually strolled past the Goyard shop in NM a few times. This time Thomas was with me and it was roped off. He told me to go inside and a guard overheard us and said...no they are open, they just let only a few in at a time. The next 2 in at a time, was us. LOL! I'm a purse and shoe girl. I've been eyeing a red St Louis for a while so when I am in a city where I can get a Goyard bag, it's hard for me to resist. They don't allow e-commerce shopping so no ordering online. The representative Daniel was sooo helpful. I went to get another St. Louis (I have the black + brown one I got at Bergdorf's a few years back) but ended up spying a bag very similiar but with a zipper. Let me tell you - the zipper is a game changer!! IF you know bags, the St Louis is very popular BUT it has no zipper. My stuff pending the angle, would often fall out. I hated it. But now, I have a zipper and it's literally the best. I almost went with the full black but I have been crushing on this red for a while so I took it home with me.

Normally, we are close to the river and a stroll to the Pier gives us the views we need of Lake Michigan. During warmer months, Lake Michigan is filled with boats, and jet ski's of a few hundred people enjoying the water. Well - this time the boats were few. We managed to see one tour boat on the river and there was none afloat on LM. Despite the cold, we couldn't leave the city without laying eyes here. The city view is unmatched and being on the water (water is my element), just made the day even better.

Sorry New York, Chicago is now our favorite city. The End.
