City Love - Other To Do's in Chicago

Chicago, Illinois:

If you read the blog post, Chasing Chicago, then you caught my top 3 and even though they are my top 3, they most certainly might not be yours. Here we cover a few other attractions that showed us love while in the city.

The Chicago River Walkway

Our hotel was right off the Chicago River and within just a few steps, we were there. The Chicago River Walkway is filled with riverfront homes, shops, dining venues, boat rides, kayaking, and even a winery. You can be on either side of the river to walk, bike, or sit and people watch. It's here where we caught more views of the river off boat, snacked at the cutest beer garden, and fell more in love with the city.

Walk the Magnificent Mile

Our first glimpse of what the Magnificent Mile had to offer was at night when we left the observatory but we had to return for shopping the next day. Think of 5th Ave in New York when you think of this street. It's lined with your favorite high end department stores and plenty of restaurants to choose from.

Art Institute of Chicago

We usually try to explore a new museum when we travel. Our City pass came with a few options but we only had time for a couple. We choose the art institute and wanted to catch the digital Monet show but unfortunately it was gone when we arrived. This museum is stated to have the largest collection of Claude Monet's work outside of Paris so we were excited for the full package both in person & digitally but nonetheless, the experience was a great one and I would definitely visit again.

Millennium Park

Across the street from the museum is Millennium Park, a main attraction in the city. There are several pieces of art sculptures on display, an amphitheater, and beautifully kept grounds that could keep you here all day. We walked through the park and captured a few snaps but honestly, with the mid-day heat, we couldn't stay very long but this is definitely worth the visit.

We have been doing the 4 day 3 night trip for a while now but after visiting Chicago, we are determined to add more time. We look at the many options to do and always think we can fit everything in but what we tend to forget to account for is the amount of rest needed especially with the amount of walking we did on this trip. My suggestion is to plan accordingly and eve if you have to pivot, you won't walk away being too disappointed in the end.

Places we just didn't have time to make but maybe you can:

Ohio Beach

Field Museum

Shedd Aquarium

Skydeck Chicago

Adler Planetarium - reportedly opening back in 2022.
