Girls Gone Hou - The Food

Houston, TX

Girls Gone Hou is exactly what it sounds like. I can't even begin to describe how much fun this trip was. I will admit that Houston really was never on my list of places to visit but I wouldn't dare miss an opportunity to catch a flight and some fun with my best gal pals for the past 25 years! This post is dedicated to THE FOOD.

After check-in and bag drops, we headed out on foot to do a quick tour of the surrounding streets. Walking makes you thirsty so instead of water, we found crossed paths with our first rooftop bar and opted for the cocktails instead! The best decisions are sometimes POUR decisions! LOL!

Z on 23 Rooftop

Z on 23 was on our list but didn't make our final cut but we managed to keep it in our back pocket since it was within walking distance from our hotel. Glad we made it here. The space is not huge but quaint and comfy enough for a cocktail pit stop. It's located in the Le Meridian hotel and a quick hop on the elevator got us to the 23rd floor. I think Joy took the stairs - well some of them. LOL! Cocktails were cute and on par with expectations but our time here was short but pleasantly sweet just like our drinks. :-)

Back to the room we went to prepare for our first night together and dinner.

Bungalow Downtown Dining

The ambiance here is so glam! We loved it. The space is very nice and inviting. One tip, if you do dine here, request a table of your preferred location within the establishment. We were looking forward to sitting in what I would consider the 'main' dining area but instead we were seated in the rear of the venue. The decor was nice but not like the other dining area. We tried to move but our server just kept trying to move us 'OVER THERE'. Where? OVER THERE. You mean, OVER THERE? Like OVER THERE, THERE? I literally screamed out loud reliving this moment because OVER THERE = another corner in the same room. <SIGH> Outside of seating, the food was good and so were the drinks. The service was relatively slow but we did have 7 people and it's not like we ordered just salads. I do think it could have been faster but we survived with good conversation over even better cocktails.

Just look at my beautiful friends!

Once again, I think we ordered half the menu and got to sample plenty from each other.

The table included - Bungalow Truffle Fries, Fried Calamari & Shrimp, Cream Seafood Dip, Pan Seared Salmon Steak, Fried Lobster Tails, Bruleed Cream Corn, Brussel Sprouts, Asparagus and Sauteed Vok Chu. LOL!

Again, another moment you had to be present for. Love you friend!!

KAMP Houston

Welcome KAMPERS!! OK so I won't lie when I got here, my nose was super turned up! LOL! However, I can totally admit when I have misjudged a spot especially when it became one of the trip highlights. This spot was soooo much fun. Like legit fun. We booked ahead of time for a 12:00 PM brunch. Keep in mind that pending the time, KAMP requires table minimums. So for example, our same table if reserved at 7:00 PM would require a $1K minimum purchase and also a $250 deposit that would go towards your bill. Another thing to note, the request for the bill to be placed on 1 card so be prepared. We arrived and sat outside. The weather was beautiful. Shortly after, other patrons started to file in.

We ending up doing bottle service + food of course with no minimum required. Bottle service costs ($$$) here but we got a cute lil dance or whatever so I think that's really what we paid for. Here came our bottle of Casamigos and the accompanying mixers to get us started.

The food was also good. We had a variety of items and they were pretty solid choices.

1st Row: Collard Greens, Fried Crab Fingers, Grilled Street Corn, Hennessey Honey Glazed Salmon

2nd Row: Grilled Jerk Shrimp Rolls, Pan Seared Crab Cake, Rocket Boudin Balls

In between all this eating, we did manage to squeeze in some fun. Post KAMP, we were headed to our activity for the day. Read about those times in the blog post - Girls Gone Hou - The FUN. Bypassing that here and taking it to our next spot scheduled for dinner.

Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse

We had a few other selections but honestly, one night, we had to cancel going out. The daily turn up almost took us out. Well - I will speak for myself. It took me all the way out. We settled at the bar inside the hotel as to not travel again but our last scheduled dinner landed us here. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!! Everything was delicious!! From the appetizers, salads, cocktails, entrees and desserts, everyone raved about how good their food was! 10 out of 10 stars across the board. The food coupled with the great and attentive service made our Noir & Gold Glam X Birthday Dinner a huge success.

You will not be disappointed if you decide to dine here.
