Never even knew my home state boasted a beach this beautiful! I have been saying for ages that I need to explore South Carolina more and when the opportunity came to do a quick girl’s getaway in state, Kiawah Island was the perfect choice for our girl group of 7! It was a toss up between Myrtle Beach and somewhere else - not that anything is wrong with Myrtle Beach but I am so glad we decided to go with ‘somewhere else’.
Planning for a large group of people can have its challenges and even though I was not the designated trip planner, I had to stick in my 2 cents! :-). With any trip, you are bound to run into obstacles on the way but my girl crew was determined to not let anything stop us from having a great time. It all worked out in the end.
We rented a beautiful, private 6 Bedroom home on the island and while it wasn’t beach front, we had one of the most serene views I could have hoped for all equipped with deer trampling through the back yard and oh yeah - a gator!
The island itself is just immaculate! Gorgeous manicured lawns with endless green golf courses set the scene for a fantastic getaway. The beach was so clean and every place we visited, was beautiful! I could not have asked for a better location. The island is equipped with what I called the ‘village’ with shops, stores, the cutest wine bar (ever), a spa, and several dining options that lined the streets.
Outside of the home we shared for the weekend, my most favorite place here was the beach. It was stunning. We only spent a few hours here and I wish we could have spent several more. We rented 7 beach chairs that were waiting for our arrival and was situated at a safe distance from any other beach goers. We loaded at Dock #33 and end up here!
