Oh Hey Neighbor!

Asheville, NC:

Though this isn't my first time visiting this beautiful town, it is the first time I was able to sit still enough to enjoy the panoramic views of the mountains. Of course traveling during a global pandemic was no where on the bucket list for 2020 but we opted to make the best of the time that was given.

First off, if you live in any neighboring state of North Carolina and have never been to Asheville, you are definitely missing out. Of course, one of the most famous homes in America sits right here but even if you are not into the grand ambiance of visiting The Biltmore, there are so may other gorgeous and relaxing sites to take in. Enjoying the view was enough for the weekend but we couldn't skip good food.

First on our stop was Pack's Tavern. It's located downtown and literally smack across the street from the police department sooo safety was the last thing on our minds. But more importantly during this time, how were the COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines handled? Very well I must say. The entrance was roped off for patrons to enter and exit. We were greeted with an employee wearing a facial covering who then rattled off the series of questions related to COVID symptoms. We were seated promptly and were required to wear masks until seated. All servers were wearing masks and the tables were alternated to ensure spacing between guests.

Secondly - what we ate!

We had 2 appetizers to share and our individual meals.

App 1: Deviled Eggs with Pimento Cheese & Bacon - Best I have had to date! So so good!

App 2: Lately, my boyfriend has been going after fried pickles soo this was a likely choice when we saw the menu. Also very good...and the sauce - scrumptious!

My Meal: Brisket Macaroni & Cheese - Such a good dish and I would recommend this but if you are going for this, I would skip the apps. It's so much food and honestly, I couldn't find a way to finish it off but it was oh so tasty.

His Meal: Carolina Fried Chicken Sandwich - Now while, I can't place an opinion on this item, the response was written all over his face that it was just as enjoyable as everything else we ordered! Sorry - no pics!

Saturday Bites:

For some odd reason, I am always in charge of picking dining options when we travel. While I thoroughly enjoy sifting through mounds of websites, online menus and reviews, the pressure of ensuring the dining spot chosen is up to par sometimes gives me a dose of anxiety. I mean who wants to have a dining experience that is just blah! Luckily for me, I know good food spots and this second pick was no different.

IT WAS GREAT & BABE LOVED IT!!

Our Saturday lunch spot was Twisted Laurel! The food exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend the Cheerwine BBQ Chicken Wings & the Firecracker Shrimp. As a small side, I also had the Wedge Salad (GF) and it was one of the best! The food was superb and when I venture back, this is the first stop!

We sat upstairs near the bar however this place has a cool outdoor seating area with a covered canopy and extended tables with seating along the side walk. I love a good outdoor seating area but SOMEBODY can't stand the heat so we are generally always forced to dine inside.

If you are thinking of heading to Asheville, consider checking out these two dining options. We had so many on our list to try but time just didn't permit for the weekend trip but we plan to go back and explore the city more!
