Set Sail in SXM

Sint Maarten:

One of the highlights of the trip was our day at sea for a birthday celebration. There is so much to unpack here so I am going to do my best to recap the day.

We were up early morning to be ready for an 8:00 AM departure. The marina was not far from our hotel so the drive was short. It took us about 15 minutes to board, get the rules for the day and set sail.

The morning started with a continental breakfast, mimosas and again...Hennessey (not pictured -yet)! LOL!

The views were amazing and the weather was perfect for sailing. I can't recommend this experience enough.

We stayed on the Dutch side so we naturally set sail from there. The intent was to travel around the entire island and to the French side. The rough sea and a little too much Henny made that a challenge...for some..and a disaster for one! LOL! We already had to have a little 'talk' and encouragement to even get Thomas on the boat and the way this water starting acting while heading to the other side of the island, let's just say, he has vowed to never get on a boat again. <major side eye there> We went from too cool for school to a soaking wet pool! LOL! The waves were sooo rough and splashed so high on the boat, we had to turn around. That glass filled almost to the rim of Hennessey and Coke, did not help the situation but it made for some great laughs and created memories we will never forget.

After we turn the boat around, we were off on a sail to find another location to begin preparing for lunch. Before arriving, we pre-selected our entrees and desserts. There was a grill on the boat and the chef was hard at work. I selected lobster for my entree and now I am on a journey to master grilling lobster so I can do this at home! Yum! Yum!

Th other highly selected option was a ribeye steak. It was one of the best steaks, I've had. We all gathered for lunch and our day was half way done.

Since the French side water didn't know how to act. We had to figure out how and where we could go for the second half of the day. Old faithful (the map) was whipped out and so we could understand where we could go to see more of the island. Once cleared, we were on our way.

The entire day was spent in the company of great people. Lots of dancing, singing, snorkeling, and laughing filled the day. Towards the end, it was time to sing happy birthday and reveal that beautiful cake. Of course there were tears! After this day of blessings, how could there not be.

A well best spent. I even left with a new name - MAMARAZZI!

If you travel to this island, please check out PyratzSXM for your charter needs. I highly recommend this company and I can't wait to use their services again. They also charter from neighboring islands - Anguilla & St. Barths. The crew was so accommodating and supportive of all our requests. Please give them your business if you are interested in an island sail.
