Charleston, SC:
I don't have the words to describe the time my friends and I had on the weekend getaway to Charleston, SC! Of course, we all have been to the city several times but always separately. This time one of the besties decided to host her birthday celebration here and I must say it was one of the best road trips I have ever been on! Charleston is within driving distance from our homes and we can get there in a little over 2 hours - some a little faster so when it was announced that we would be traveling there, the crew was super excited. We arrived late night due to a series of unfortunate events during the day but in enough time to catch a cool bar to kickstart the weekend. We landed at Henry's on Market. This all in one restaurant, bar, and music hall is the perfect late night one stop shop. We arrived too late for food (it was after midnight) but managed to squeeze a few cocktails and a beer. The music was fantastic and even though we couldn't stay very long, we managed to take a peak inside the whiskey room and the second story lounge but not the rooftop. This place is 3 levels of pure fun even though we only got to experience one, this is more than likely my first stop for late night fun in Charleston.
So no food was being served due to the time but the waiter recommended a pizza shop next door that stayed open until 2:30 AM. We walked a few doors down and discovered Pizzeria Di Giovanni.
The pizza slices were huge! Sorry no pictures but just trust me on this! One is probably enough but you know us - gotta feed our eyes! We settled on 2 slices of pizza with pepperoni, bacon, & sausage. It was so yummy!
Headed for a good night's rest, we landed at the Belmond Charleston Place - one of my favorite hotels in all of the southeast. I absolutely can't get enough of the southern charm it boasts. The hotel is a wonderful stay and the staff is absolutely fantastic.
Enough about day 1! I will be blogging about all of other experiences in individual posts - but as you can already imagine, they will mostly be about food and drinks! :-)
